Nizwa — 24 January 2006

One of National Product Promotion Campaign is Scouts Walk which targets school students and scouts . This activity held in Nizwa with cooperation of The National Organization for Scouts and Guides, in this activity the following goals are achieved:

  1. Increasing level of awareness by importance of buying Omani Products.
  2. Increasing level of awareness by importance of supporting and buying Omani Products for general consumers in the area.
  3. Showing various industries through banners and logos of companies which are sponsors in this campaign.

This activity is part of the yearly final scouts camp in Nizwa, this event was under the patronage of Wali Bahla in 24th of January 2006. the walk started at 4:15 P.M from Wali Nizwa office and through main road and passing through main Nizwa market. The walk was 2 kilometers and the number of scouts who are participated in this walk 220 of scouts and 50 scouts in musical band and the walk finished at front of Nizwa Market at 5:00 P.M.

In the final ceremony of the event which was under the patronage of Wali Bahla there were some of musical shows done by scouts musical band, and then the head of Scouts Department was encouraging consumers to support Omani Products. Moreover at the end of the ceremony Wali Bahla rewarded organizers of the event and thanked Organizers for this important event.














MUSCAT — 27 December 2005

Under the patronage of HE Eng. Salim bin Said Al Ghattami, President of the Oman Chamber for Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the presence of HE ENG. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MOCI) and Mr. Sultan Al Habsi, Executive President of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), a grand awards ceremony of the National Products Promotion Campaign 2005/2006 was held at Grand Hyatt on 27 December 2005.

The ceremony was held to honor Individuals, companies, government and media organizations who supported the campaign which aimed at increasing awareness of the Omani product in the local market, promoting national products and creating more job opportunities for the nationals.

Oman Mobile was the main sponsor of the campaign with contribution totaling OMR 25,000. Next was Omar Al Zawawi Group of Companies with a contribution of RO24,000 with equal amounts from its six group companies.

The Bronze Sponsors who contributed RO5,000 each were: Oman International Bank; Oman and Emirates Investments Company; Daleel Petroleum Company; and Al Naser Trading Company.

Moreover, six hypermarkets played a pivot role in this campaign. A competition was held between these hypermarkets and three of them won. The objective of the competition was to encourage local markets in developing new ways to display Omani products and attract consumers to buy them. Amongst these hypermarkets three of them managed to showcase a good display of the Omani products: Al Fair; The Wholesale Center, Al Khoud; and Lulu Hypermarkets and they received awards. However the rest: Al Burj Trading; Carrefour; Al Safeer — were also honored for their contribution in supporting Omani Products campaign.

Public sector organizations also had their share in promoting for the campaign. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Information, Tender Board and the Ministry of Education were also recognized for their supporting role in the promotion and were rewarded as well.

Others who were honoured with awards include the National Products Promotion Committee, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), the Oman Establishment for Press News Publication and Advertising (OEPNPA), the National Organization for Scouts & Guides, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and other private sector companies which performed in the campaign and other prominent individuals.

On this occasion HE Eng. Al Dheeb commented: "The campaign strategy for the year 2006 will focus on specific governmental bodies and in coordination with the Tender Board some large enterprises. The campaign will also target consumers through the media and local advertisements.

Omani products exhibition in Al Fair hypermarket at 11:00 am on the 2nd of May 2005. It was under the patronage of H.E. Alsayed Hamad Bin Hilal Al Busaidy, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower.


Omani products exhibition at the Wholesale center at 11:30 am on the 23rd of March 2005. It was under the patronage of H.E Salim Bin Saeed Al-Ghatami, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Omani products exhibition at Carrefour hypermarket at 10:00 am on the 6th of February 2005. It was under the patronage of H.E Sultan Bin Hamdoon Al-Harthy, the Secretary General of the Tender Boards.


Omani products exhibition in Lulu hypermarket at 6:00 pm on the 6th of February 2005. It was under the patronage of H.E Ahmed Bin Hassan Al-Dheeb, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.


Omani products exhibition at Safeer hypermarket at 10:00 am on the 21st of December 2004. It was under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al-Maimani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the Administrative and Financial Affairs.


Omani Products exhibition in Al Burj at 11:00 am on the 23rd of May 2005. It was under the patronage of H.E Rashed Bin Ahmed Al-Hinai, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports Affairs.


Children play: this play targets children and make them differentiate between Omani product and forging product. Moreover, this play encourages children to buy Omani products and shows what are the advantages we get when we buy these products. The first play was in the amphitheater in Qurm Park in 20th of April 2005. The second show was in Caladonian College of Engineering. The play continued in Khareef Salalah Festival in the 10th -12th of August 2005 in the festival area.


Radio Programme

This programme started in July-September 2005 in Sultanate of Oman Radio (F.M Channel- ALShabab). This programme is an entertainment programme and through this programme we sent awareness messages for listener to encourage them to buy and use Omani products and increasing the loyalty for Omani products. This programme was successful and there were questions and valuable prizes for the winners.


Hypermarket Competition

This competition was between hypermarkets in Oman. This competition aims to encourage hypermarkets to support Omani products (promotional schemes, display …etc) and to create competition between those hypermarkets to offer best support for Omani products.


Ministry of Education Activities

With cooperation with ministry of education, there was creation of some competitions for school children such as listing as much as possible of Omani products, best photo taken for Omani products, best drawing for Omani products …. Etc. these kind of competitions make the children know about Omani products and increase the loyalty. The winners in this competition were given valuable prizes in the end of the activities ceremony for Ministry of Education.
